Music is a universal word. It can reach deep into the human spirit. Melody can change a mood in an instant. It can inspire creativity, or take us to the depths of despair. Music can calm inner turmoil or set the pace for revolution and violence.

Within "the arts", music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and auditory art. There is also a strong connection between music and mathematics.
